Upcycled Jeans (2026)
I went retro and upcycled a pair of capri jeans. I added fabric to the bottom to make bellbottoms and added sunflower patches in several places. I also added a side pocket to the lower leg.
Havana’s Bear & Quilt (2024)
When Havana was little she used to like bundling up inside my bathrobe with me. My robe was getting worn out but instead of throwing it away, I made a quilt and a teddy bear out of it for her. The teddy bear has a little fluffy heart inside him and I also recorded three little songs/sayings we sing together on a voice box and put it in his paw.
Dragon Costume (2020)
Rayna wanted a pink dragon costume this year. We couldn’t find one that she liked so I volunteered to make her one. Just for fun, I made a matching mini-me stuffed dragon toy. For the costume, I used a basic dinosaur pattern and customized it. My goal was to make the costume look like the toy dragon. For the headpiece I started with a basic hood and designed the face, nose, ears, horns, and eyes to look like the toy.
Memory Quilt (2018)
Sometime back in 2016, my daughter Chrissy brought me two bags of Havana’s baby clothes. She explained that she wanted me to make her a memory quilt with them. At that point I had never heard of that, I didn’t know it was a “thing”. I really didn’t even know where to begin. I finally got to work on it nearly three years later. I searched the internet for inspiration and came across a number of different ways people created these. I couldn’t bear to cut the clothes up due to their sentimental value so I decided to sew them right onto the color blocks. I must say that I totally winged it! It turned out beautiful and Chrissy loved it!
